Q: What does success look like for this role?
Success in our agency means consistently building and maintaining strong client relationships by thoroughly understanding their needs, providing accurate and suitable insurance coverage, effectively managing claims, proactively addressing potential issues, staying updated on industry trends, and achieving consistent renewal rates and growth within your assigned portfolio, all while delivering exceptional customer service. Additionally, we see success in an employee when they value teamwork, resourcefulness, following standard operating procedures, consistent time and attendance, willingness to learn, good communication skills, proficiency with our tech stack, and keeping your license current.
Q: What is the most important quality you look for in a candidate?
The most important quality we look for in a candidate is cultural fit. Do our core values resonate with yours? Why did you choose to pursue a career in insurance? While we value candidates who bring insurance knowledge and a strong background in account management, we also recognize that many of these skills can be taught. Above all, we prioritize a positive attitude, a strong desire to learn, resourcefulness, and the ability to work well in a team. These qualities are key to success in our agency.
Q: Is not having my TN P&C license a deal breaker?
It is not. In our hiring process, we seek candidates who demonstrate key qualities such as a strong background in customer service, potential for growth, and a genuine commitment to the insurance industry. Additionally, we assess whether a candidate’s values align with our company culture and whether they possess the aptitude to excel in the role. This helps us determine whether hiring a non-licensed candidate is the right fit for the agency. When we find the right candidate, we are happy to invest in their professional development by covering the costs of the necessary insurance courses and testing.
Q: How many carriers do you work with?
In Personal Lines, we have approximately 25 carriers. In Commercial Lines, we work with over 40 carriers. We seek the best companies to provide our clients with the best options.
Q: What Community Service are you involved with?
We are involved with Elmington Elevates, a nonprofit organization that assists two underserved schools in our community with free after-school programs. We also have a dedicated employee who works to find opportunities in our community to give back. In the past, we have worked with The Insurors of Nashville, The Land Trust of Tennessee, the Salvation Army, The Community Resource Center, and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.
Q: When do medical and other benefits begin?
Medical, dental and vision begin the first day of the following month after hire. For example, the hire date is November 15th. Benefits begin December 1st. We also begin paid holidays immediately. You accrue paid time off during your first 90 days and can use those beginning after the initial probationary period. All other benefits begin after 90 days.
Q: What professional development programs and learning opportunities are available to employees?
One of our core values at Robins Insurance is Evolve & Grow, and we are committed to supporting the professional development of our team members. To this end, we reimburse the cost of renewing your licensing. If you are required to obtain a license upon hire, we will cover the expenses for your Property & Casualty (P&C) course and examination. Additionally, we invest in your ongoing education by covering the costs of continuing education (CE) courses. We partner with respected platforms and organizations, such as TotalCSR, The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research, The Hartford, and the Insurance Institute of America, to provide valuable learning opportunities and industry designations. As part of our commitment to growth, we also prioritize succession planning and actively promote from within whenever opportunities arise, helping our team members advance in their careers.
